Some RCCBs have L on the left and some on the right, i.e. printed on the case.

Is there a reason for this other than that is the way in which that brand of CU is configured?

Does it matter to the internal workings of the device which pole is put on which side?

Thanks.

But would it comply with manufacturers' instructions and could it be considered "correct connection of accessories"?
No it wouldn't comply in that respect, as Tony says it will still work though. I have found a few wired incorrectly in the past and being a pedantic git have rewired the CU so it complied with the manuf instructions (rewired an old contactum one last week for that reason (and the fact that it looked a mess)). The same with main incomers for the same reason.

My drawing is technically wrong, it will work as draw. But I’ll leave it you to work out why it’s wrong, a bit of homework for you :freak:

Well, you haven't labelled your resistance value, the left hand feed should be L, the right hand N, the torroid doesn't appear to have any windings and the trip coil isn't shown as having a winding on the torroid either ;)
