Can anyone help, this is driving me mad. I am a fully qualified Electrician and have a few problems on a complex where i own a property in tenerife. Last week 4 apartments had their Rccds tripping out throughout the night. Bare in mind that all circuits are protected with an Rccd here. All 4 went off about 8 times and 2 would not reset till the morning. There was no rain through the night either. Since then 2 apartments 20 doors away from each other trip out twice early evening. They trip at similar times. I have done an insulation resistance test on both properties one was totally clear on all circuits and the other has a low reading on the lights. I know the low reading needs to be sorted out. How can these apartments be linked an Rccd will only pick up a fault after it and not before it. I haver never been beaten with problems and faults yet but this is very close. Hope someone can shed some light on to this matter. Thanks

Immersion heaters coming on at certain times? If they were all built around the same time maybe a common fault.. Stab in the dark I know!

Thanks for reply, but these properties are 22 years old and all the boilers are different, i even asked when they use the hot water and it can vary quite a lot. Thanks anyway.

I have had a similar problem here in the uk and eventualy the fault was found to be the incoming supply, every day around the same time the rcd tripped, it was the local factory up the road opening up for business causing a problem on the over head supply............ You will find out how hard it is for the supply company to admit its their problem whilst trying to charge you for the work.

Good luck

Ash
