Hi

When testing from Isolator end can you please tell me the method for testing RCD, using a Megger 1553, can you use both 2 or 3 test lead method and can you explain both methods

Many Thanks

Chris

There shouldn't be any need for using 3 leads, as all you're doing is leaking 30mA to earth, so only line and earth clips needed.

So clip your green to the earth of the isolator, stick your red probe on your line, and press the autotest button.... Or do the 1/2 test, 1x (0 and 180), 5x (0 and 180) and once all these are done, press the test button one last time to make sure you haven't broken the RCD testing it.

Not as far as I am aware, as all that is needed to check that the RCD trips is to put that imbalance in the line and earth. I suppose you could use the 3 lead set, but I think you'd just be wasting time and energy as I don't think the Megger uses that connection for RCD tests.
