A RCD is tripping faster at 1X than at 5X. Example 16ms 1x and 29ms 5x.
I have used another tester which gives the same result.
Anybody got a theory

Hi There

I'm glad I'm not the only one to have had this problem. Some time ago got good results when testing at 1x then when testing at 5x went way over time allowed up to 200ms!! Have asked loads of experts they say my meter was wrong, which I know was OK

Steve

Did you try testing at 0 degrees and 180 degrees on your testers ? I have known it to make a differance.
Your not alone with this, I have come across the same situation a few times. Testers were ok one metrotest the other Fluke.

Testing was done on 30 flats supplied from the same source. There is 1 hagar and 2 Click boards giving these readings the rest were ok.

They were done with a Megger and then compared with a Robin tester at 0 & 180 but I didn't use auto ramp.
Glad I' m not the only one who has seen this.

Ha. That could be a reason. I think everything was unplugged or switched off but its an old building and there are spurs hidden behind cupboards and wiring disappearing off to god knows where.

It will be a week or two until i'm back at that site but I will keep you posted.
