Have a rcd that keeps tripping. After testing and checking all appliances everything checks out ok.the power may stay on from any where from a day to a couple of weeks before tripping has anybody any ideas.

Ok mick,we do need to ask, because it was your first post, there seems to be a lot of diyers joining up just to ask daft questions,so dont want to help them out just incase they kill themselves, anyway welcome to the forum,is there just one rcd covering the whole installation?

Have now found what the problem was ,it was a tie back curtain hook in the kitchen it had been screw into the wall and had just nicked the kitchen ring. The tie back hook was wooden with metal threads. There was a little bit play on the hook so when the curtains were tied back this put a fault on causing the rcd to trip however when the curtains where un tied this cleared the fault.
It was by chance that the owner was tying the curtains back on the hook when i was in the kitchen and the power went off, it was then that i seen the hook and realised what had happen thanks very much for your interest
