Hi,

I sold a brand new RCD to a guy on ebay, he is says that when he changed his main switch for an RCD it now trips on any circuit, he thinks its a faulty RCD.

I have asked him if its a slipt load DB incase he has neutrals mixed up. But havent had a reply yet. I hoping its a wiring fault or an appliance but he said it trips on every circuit, not sure exactly what he means by that but if each indivaul breaker trips it when turned on is it more than likely a faulty rcd??

Cheers

Shawn

Was it a 100A 30mA main isolator switch you sold the person:confused:

Yes it was, why??

His problem for buying rcd's online?!!

I'd tend to agree, i have no idea if he is pulling a fast one and sayig it is faulty and if he sends it back for a refund etc he could have just swapped it for one that he knew was nackered. Obviously i could have been selling him a dud one and saying it was fine, but that is the risk he took. Although it was brand new and boxed, guess that doesn't mean it was ok tho.

Look, i would never buy sensitive electrical components over the internet as i know the delivery man is going to kick it half the way here. its the risk he took to save a few quid and it hasnt paid off (thats presuming it is a faulty rcd).

If he persists with asking for a refund then ask him to send you his test results and prove he is competent.

No problem mate.Looks like he has swapped the main breaker for the one you sold him and the wiring maybe shot to pieces.Just a thought.Probably a landlord trying to do it on the cheap before he let's the property out.

Thanks for the replies guys, i have suggested a few things for him to try, i don't believe he is a sparky by the way he is talking so he may have done something wrong. Wait and see i guess.
