Hi all
Just done a EICR on a property no majors findings, then owner who is rentingthe property out say the rcd is tripping, my first thought is it something Ihave done, turns out it has beenhappening for a long time.

Thecircuits that are on the rcd are cooker which was switched off at dp switch, shower which was switch off at dp switch and washing machine plugged in andfridge which they say is quite new but it did it before that, tested rcd triptimes and a ramp test but seem reluctant to rest first time. Any thoughts. Thehouse is empty at the moment no signs of a any diy wiring on sockets etc

Hi dillb
did a combine l-n/e as no mention of any fault at that point. Been back today, think I have found the issue. Ask the owners several question. It appears it happens when they go out and it's trips. There boiler has a fused spare next to it but also for what ever reason has one in the kitchen even though boiler is upstairs this is inside a cupboard I took the front of and found a burnt out neon light, I got them to slam the front door and the rcd tripped.

A highly technical and scientific testing method..

Could the OP possibly hazard a guess as to how the door slam acted on the blown neon,to trip the RCD? Any stab at a reason will suffice...:conehead:
