Discuss Rcds in series in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

From your link:
"Components connected in series are connected along a single conductive path, so the same current flows through all of the components"

With RCDs in series the same current flows through both devices (assuming nothing is branched off in between the). They are connected along a single conductive path, but having two poles they are each connected to two different parts of the same conductive path.

Think of it as logic gates.
In series, both rcd’s have to be closed to get an output... A AND B = C
In parallel, either rcd closed would give an output... A OR B = C

It’s just no one would deliberately wire 2 rcd’s in parallel like that.

the RCDs are wired in series, as the load current passes through RCD1 then RCD2. either one trips, the current is Zero. if they were in parallel, 1 RCD trips and the other one would pass the load current. here endeth the lesson. :p:rolleyes:o_O
