Hello all,

I'm new to the forum and joined in the hope some experienced sparkies could maybe give some advice and point me in the right direction in regards to course types and possible funding.

I own and operate my own CCTV business in West Yorkshire and as well as my domestic customers I also work for all the usual suspects such as:

Local Authorities
Police
NHS
Housing Associations etc etc

I have always recommended two electrical companies when asked to undertake electrical work but, I am extremely interested in having the qualifications to allow me to install LED security lights as an extra "String in my bow" so to speak as a large number of my customers require these to supplement the CCTV systems I provide and install.

I'm by no means a novice around electrical devises as I was an on road AV trainer for 10 years undertaking some of the largest AV systems in Europe.

Now, as I understand it to install LED security lights I need the (Seventh Edition) & (Part P)??? Is this correct???

If this is right do any members know of any help with funding such course's???

Like most members on this forum I've always grafted and paid my fair share and some into the system and feel it would be really helpful to receive some help with funding "no matter how small the contribution may be".

Could anybody please advise me? I would be extremely grateful for any advice in this matter. :smile5:

King Regards,

Paul

Hi Paul. If you run a company making profit I am not sure why you believe you should be funded to further yourself and give yourself wider work scope. Also, Part P only applies to domestic so you would not require it for commercial or industrial work. You may be asked to prove that you are electrically skilled / competent by a client or they may assume you are as you are offering the service.
