Clarification needed please

Sorry to labour this point as I know its been mentioned before, but exactly should be tested and recoded on the installation certificate? When installing a new consumer unit.

I’ve read only test C/U!! How is this done? I know you will need to test both RCDs and all RCBOs @ ½ x 1x & 5 times in both 0º & 180º

I also carry out Ze, PSCC & PEFC and main bonding, but what is bothering me is by the C/U you are changing everything e.g. if you are replacing a BS 3036: 5a, 30, etc you would be putting in 6a & 32a. Furthermore what about possible faults and dangerous wiring, dodgy rings etc.. etc.... By changing the C/u would you then not become responsible for the whole installation?

Any help would be appreciated

THANKS

Steve

My advice would be to carry out a full PIR before changing CU. This way you will find any faults on existing installation before changing CU and issuing EIC. You can note in the "Extend of installation" box that it is a CU change only.
