Dear Consumer Code Member,
Consumer Codes Approval Scheme
In my email of 1 February 2013 I promised to update you further on the transfer of the Consumer Codes Approval Scheme (CCAS) from the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) to Trading Standards Institute (TSI). The transfer duly took place on 1 April 2013. The Renewable Energy Consumer Code has been approved by the company TSI has set up for the purposes of approving consumer codes, Consumer Codes Approval Board (CCAB). I am confident that our closer relationship with TSI and Trading Standards Departments will offer many advantages and opportunities for you as Code members in the months to come. You can find more details
here.
TSI Logo
To reflect the transfer we have replaced the OFT logo on our website with the CCAB Logo developed by TSI for approved Codes. As an approved Code member your business is also permitted to use the CCAB Logo. You can find the CCAB Logo Copyright Licence Terms and TSI Brand Guide in the members’ area of the website:
www.recc.org.uk/member. (You will need your membership number and password to log in to the members’ area. Your log-in details are outlined below.) These are the terms on which TSI permits you to use the CCAB Logo.
In consideration for the grant of this licence and the payment of membership fees to us we permit you to use the Logo on the terms set out in the TSI Brand Guide which is also available in the members’ area of the website. The terms of the licence are binding on you by your use of the Logo. Please note that CCAB has third party rights to enforce the licence terms. You do not need to sign and return the licence to TSI CCAB.
You will find instructions for how to use the Logo in the TSI Brand Guide. Please note that you may only display the Logo on your website by following the instructions on page 12 of the TSI Brand Guide exactly. Rather than use a jpg or eps image the Logo has an embedded authorisation code within it. You will find details of the technical support available for the website version of the Logo on page 12 of the TSI Brand Guide.
In any other publications or materials you may use any of the Logos expressly permitted in the TSI Brand Guide in accordance with the Licence Terms. You will find the permitted Logos in the members’ area of the website. You are not permitted to use the Logo in any other way.
Renewable Energy Consumer Code
At the same time we have made a change to the name of the Code. In future it will be known as the Renewable Energy Consumer Code, rather than ‘the REAL Code’ or ‘REAL Assurance’. We think this name better describes the nature and purpose of the Code. Obviously the previous name will be current and interchangeable for several months while we update our materials and while our members and other stakeholders have a chance to update theirs and adjust to the new name. We have amended our logo to reflect the change. Again, you can access this logo, and guidance on its use, through the member’s area of the website. Your log-in details for the member's area are as follows:
Please be assured that your 2013 membership certificate will remain valid with the previous logo. You will not be required to reprint your materials during the remainder of 2013 until such time as you are planning to reprint them anyway.
We have also amended the domain name of the website which is now:
www.recc.org.uk. Please be assured, however, that traffic to the previous domain name will be automatically redirected to the new one, and that any links will remain active. There should therefore be no perceptible difference to users. In the coming weeks we will be changing our email addresses to reflect the new domain name but, once again, all email traffic will be automatically redirected and so you will not notice any difference.
Finally, we have updated the Consumer Code and the Bye-Laws to replace references to OFT with references to TSI and to reflect the new name of the Consumer Code.
If you have any questions about the contents of this email do please do let me know. In the meantime I send you my best wishes.
Yours sincerely,
Virginia Graham,
Chief Executive.
