really confused

hi ,
got a really big problem,been trying to find a fault for week nw.The problem is though,when i wnted to see if it was a main neutral incoming causing the problem i turned off main switch disconnected neutral and switched mains on without nuetral but the whole installation still worked without a neutral,how is this?

A bit naughty doing that to be honest! If you done that on a 3 phase system then you may potentially have had 400v across 230v circuits!

Um now that wasnt a good i dea first thing i would do is isolate the supplies and check for faults , if you have isolated the neutral and the supply is still live then i think you will find there is a fault N to E short some where on the installation and the whole installation would be running on that fault and as mark has said disconnecting the Neutral of a three phase system could have blown every little piece of equipment up , never do that when the circuits live , always test Dead to fault find , or you could end up the same way Dead sorry if im having a go mate but you could have been killed, seriously

As stated that was'nt cleaver , and as mentioned N/E fault all you have to now is a bit of detective work,
