Has anyone on here had this email survey from recc? I've asked a couple of friends near me and they haven't received it so I'm wondering just how member wide this survey is.

Dear RECC Member,
On 3rd September I wrote to you asking for your assistance in providing some information the Trading Standards Institute (TSI) requires us to have as a basis for our monitoring strategy. In my email I asked you to complete a simple survey regarding your business model and your compliance with the deposit and warranty protection requirements in the Renewable Energy Consumer Code as well as requesting information that will inform RECC’s monitoring strategy. I have not yet received your response to that survey.
Please access the following link to complete the survey: LINK REMOVED It should only take 5 minutes and will provide us with information to ensure that RECC’s monitoring strategy meets TSI’s requirements and that you are complying with the Code.

If you have previously visited the survey you may not have followed it through to the end and pressed the submit button – please ensure that you do this.
Please be assured that we will not share any information you provide with anyone outside RECC other than TSI. Any information we share with TSI will be in an aggregated format and will not contain any business names.
If you have any queries please do let me know.
Thank you very much for your cooperation.

Best wishes,
Virginia Graham,
Chief Executive.

Yes, I had the email on 3rd Sept. I'm pretty certain I responded. Not heard anything since. Full text of original email below

New Solar PV Model Quotation and Member-wide Survey

Dear RECC Member,

I hope you have had a very good summer.

Model Quotations

Firstly, I am writing to update you with some further developments to the RECC website. We have completely updated the model solar PV quotation and performance estimate as well as the overall guidance on presenting performance estimates. These documents all take account of the amended MIS 3002 and the new MCS PV solar guide. You can find them here: www.recc.org.uk/members/guidance-and-model-documents/solar-pv. These documents will be followed shortly by model quotations for heat pumps, biomass boilers and solar thermal systems. I hope you will find these additional resources helpful.

Member-wide Survey

Secondly, I am writing to ask for your assistance in providing us with some important information. As you know the Renewable Energy Consumer Code is approved by the Trading Standards Institute (TSI) under the Consumer Codes Approval Scheme. In order for us to meet our requirements with regards to monitoring compliance with the Code TSI requires us to gather some information about our members. At the same time we are seeking some information from you about your business model and your arrangements for protecting deposits, advance payments and workmanship warranties in line with the requirements of the Renewable Energy Consumer Code.

We have designed a simple survey by which you can provide us with all the information we require. Please follow the link to it here: www.surveymonkey.com/s/reccquestionnaire. I would be very grateful if you would take the time to complete the survey and submit it by 21 September.

Please be assured that we will not share any information you provide to us with anyone outside RECC. Any information we are required to share with TSI will be in an aggregated format and will not contain your business name or any other identifying details.
Thank you in advance for your co-operation.

Best wishes

Virginia Graham,
Chief Executive.

Just noticed them (had previously ignored them...) So ran it using an anonymous proxy so it isn't traceable :)

Not sure what they'll do if they don't get responses, especially as they are supposed to audit 30% of their members each year, so should already have a good handle on this anyway.

Here are the Questions: (They will actually vary depending upon previous answers )

Company Details
Name
Coompany
Email Address

Do you sell and/or install domestic installations?
Yes
No
(If you say NO it goes straight to the end !)

Do you take deposits and/or advance payments?
Yes
No
(If you say NO it jumps to warranty insurance)

You have indicated that you take deposits and/or advance payments. Under the Renewable Energy Consumer Code you are obliged to protect any funds you take in advance so that, in the event of your ceasing to trade, the consumer will be protected.

Which scheme do you use for protecting consumers’ deposits and advance payments?

QANW - DAWWI
QANW - Solar Care
Bondpay - Protected Payment System
Consumer Protection Association (CPA)
B&ES Double Guarantee
Iwa.biz
Homepro
HIES
None
Other (please specify)

Under the Renewable Energy Consumer Code (section 8.1) you must protect your workmanship warranty so that, in the event of your ceasing to trade, the warranty can be honoured. (If you have deposit and advance payment insurance this may also include workmanship warranty protection as part of the policy)

Please indicate which of the following is applicable to your company:
1) My deposit and advance payment protection scheme covers the workmanship warranty as well.
2) We use a seperate scheme to protect the workmanship warranty
3) We currently do not protect our warranty.

(If you use a Seperate scheme it asks:
Please give details of the protection scheme you use.
Protection scheme provider:
Policy title:
Insurance Member ID or Policy Reference Number:)

(if you say you don't protect the Workmanship Warranty it then asks:)
In line with section 8.1 of the Code, in the event that members 'should fall into receivership, administration, or bankruptcy during the term of the installer's guarantee, members must have arrangements in place to ensure that the guarantee will be honoured. Such arrangements can include an insurance-backed workmanship warranty or a bond, for example.'

Please indicate the reason why you do not currently comply with this section of the Code and how you plan to remedy this.
(It then jumps to your business model, else:)

How long is the workmanship warranty you provide valid for?
2 years
5 years
10 years
Other (please specify)

Please confirm which of the following best describes your business model:
Sell only
Sell and install
Install only
Other (please specify)

If you check install only it then asks:

Please confirm where you obtain your sales leads.
Online lead generators
Cold-calling or tele-sales lead generators
MCS-certified sales company/ies
Other sales company/ies
Word of mouth/referrals
Own website
Other (please specify)

Always then asks:

Please confirm whether you sell in the home (i.e. do domestic consumers sign a contract in the home with a company representative present)?
Yes
No
Not Applicable (please specify)

Do you offer domestic consumers free solar PV or other systems?
Yes
No

Please confirm the approximate number of contracts your company has signed with domestic consumers between July 2012 and July 2013, by technology. Number of solar PV contracts signed:
Number of solar thermal contracts signed:
Number of air source heat pump contracts signed:
Number of ground source heat pump contracts signed:
Number of biomass contracts signed:
Number of wind turbine contracts signed:
Other, please specify:

Update:

We refused to submit answers to this / ignored their emails - lo and behold they didn;t send us our 2014 RECC membership certificate!!

Got an email last week saying we haven't sent it out to you as you haven't filled in the survey!! - Cheeky b******s !

So sent an email earlier this week asking for our certificate, - finally got it today with an email asking for the survey to be filled out... Not inclined to do it and spend my time for them, when they didn't send out my certificate! I'm not about to tell them details of my business, which are clearly NOT anonymous to them..

That explains why we haven't had ours. Oh well, there's always next year :)

Edit: I forgot that I rang them a few weeks back asking why they had sent me an invoice for renewal when I had paid it in December. They claimed as they had so many solar savings on the register they didn't know who the payment was from. Shower of 5hite.

I still keep getting hassled for renewal. Looks like in 4 days time they'll finally get the message:

"Dear Lowlife

I am contacting you to let you know that we have not yet allocated a payment for your 2014 Renewable Energy Consumer Code membership.
We emailed across your 2014 renewal letter and invoice on 15 November. We also sent a statement by post in early February.
Please be aware that if the invoice remains unpaid by 24 March we will assume you no longer require membership in 2014 and cancel your membership. Please note that if you are MCS Certified we are required by MCS to inform Certification Bodies of non-renewals."

Useless bunch of cock jockies.

We refused to submit answers to this / ignored their emails - lo and behold they didn;t send us our 2014 RECC membership certificate!!

Ditto. However it was just a few days before my annual MCS assessment at the end of January that I found out they had not sent the certificate because they were waiting for my response to the survey. I was a bit irritated but just did the survey to get the certificate and tick another box for the assessment.

I don't remember answering it, but didn't have any issue being sent the cert. Maybe I did answer it.

I have just found this in my spam box
Dear RECC Member,

I have been entrusted with going through the RECC member list for 2014 and the sending of RECC certificates to those members who are still yet to receive them this calendar year. If you have already received your certificate, many apologies to bother you again with this email. However, the reason you are being contacted is that you are not on the list of members who have completed a survey for our records which was sent round in September last year (again, if you did not receive this email last year, many apologies and please let us know in case our contact details for you need to be updated: if you are a new member, this is obviously the first email you will have received). The original email is below, along with the link to the survey which, as it says, will take only 5 minutes to complete. If you were able to do that it would be extremely helpful and we can send you your RECC certificate immediately. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Would the mods care to tell us whether or not recc are registered users of this forum?

Not sure I quite follow.

Are you saying that the RECC email was sent to an email address that you have only used to register on this forum?
