As the title says I am a recently qualified Irish electrician, im thinking of heading over to the Uk to look for work as there is nothing in Ireland. I know there are tests I can do up north to get my qualifications in line with those required in the Uk but im just wondering is there any point doing these since im only out of my apprenticeship. Is there much chance of me getting a job being just out of my time? Ive completed a 4 year apprenticeship in a cement factory so coming from a maintainance / industrial background. Id be willing to go anywhere so location is not a problem.

Cheers!

Hello and welcome,

I think you will only need to de the 17th qual, (Regs), however im guessing that the general consensus on here is going to be that you may be wasting your time coming to the uk, as the electrical industry is struggling a little over here too!

All the best of luck with whatever you chose to do all the same.
