Hi guys

A customer wants a new surface mounted consumer unit installed. Their current unit is recessed. The cables are not long enough to come out into rear of new board.
Any suggestions would be great. 👍

That’s what I was alluding to, rather than just floating connector strip in the void.

I’d there a possibility of using the old recessed board as an enclosure? Fitting a din rail and having a row of din rail connectors? You can get din rail adaptors for holding WAGOs I believe.

That’s not a bad idea. Thanks a lot littlespark. 👍

Good suggestion there @littlespark
You can of course get Wago DIN mounted connectors for just this purpose, and pre-populated enclosures too. There's a snag with the CPC ones all being connected to the rail, however you can simply use plain ones for the cpc. Additionally, there are "carriers" that simply allow the normal Wago 221 types to be mounted onto a DIN rail. They are quite neat and not expensive.
Depending on the circuits, you might need beefier versions for a shower or cooker, obviously.

Personally, I would take a Ze measurement myself rather than rely on someone else's maybe drive by scrap of paper.
