Recessing consumer unit

Got alot of works being done at my house. I'm debating studding the wall out near the consumer unit in order to easily install new cables. Some of the cables are data as well as electrical and will be enclosed in their own containment.

The board is a metal clad split load board (Crabtree starbreaker).

What considerations should I be considering. Thermal? Accessibility? Maintainability?

Yes.

Unless you are packing in thermal insulation there you should not run in to thermal issues. But access is a big factor for later as you will need to change something sooner than you expected!

I would run a couple of 25mm conduits inside the wall from the DB going into the floor/ loft above just in case you have to add circuits in the future .

I think your right and it's kind if the reason for bringing the wall out. I want to have something in place to be able to easily add circuits in the future but not look ugly. Also, within the plaster behind is the existing circuits. I'd rather not disturb them

Just make sure you temporarily blank off the top of conduits otherwise you might end up with dust and debris getting into the DB
