Got a small job to put an extra socket in supplying tumble drier. If I label it as tumble drier only, can I omitt RCD protection? Is a FCU required aswell as the socket outlet?

Also I have a request to fit spots on a dimmer in bathroom. The dimmer is outside zone 2. Is it permitted inside a bathroom or will it have to be installed outside?

If the socket is behind the appliance and unlikely to be used for anything else then no rcd required.
If cable is buried in wall then rcd needed anyway.
Bathroom dimmer ok if outside zone 2.

or if you want to play it safe then you can get pull cord dimmer switches.

Can you get away with a rcd incorporated fused spur unit / or socket?

How is the cable fixed ?
Why do you not want it rcd protected ?

He seems to have opinions that make better sense than some of the regs

I changed my mind about rcd sockets on an installation where no rcd exists,I now take side with spinlondons view
The "whole circuit" should have rcd protection,not just the extra bit installed

I have always done this but now believe its the only way it should be done( the word needs ommitted by the way)

It's not the fact of not wanting to rcd protect it. Other than keeping costs down there is no reason why I wouldn't want to. Customers tend to look at you like a thief once you say you need RCD protection. I know alm the RCD options

For the socket yes , for the cable no.
And it wont cost that much more to bang an rcd in somwhere if you're inventive ;-)

To be honest pal , i think youre clutching at straws a bit.
Your work must comply with current regs regardless of your assessors opinion.

Not clutching at straws mate. Just looking at regs to follow correctly that's why I quoted 411.3.3 if labelled etc. not looking to deviate away from regs its all by the book from me.
