People working in domestic premesis get registered with a part p scheme provider can they do commercial installations under that registration or do they need to register differently

Part P only covers domestic, commercial requires seperate registration.. ECA for Elecsa or Approved Contractor for NICEIC... Depending what type of work being undertaken as commercial is self regulated in some instances

Why do you NEED to be registered with a scam provider for commercial/industrial working ???....

NO you Don't!!! lol!! ...It's just another buckshee scam the providers are upto!! Unfortunately, many institutions believe these scam tactics and call for being registered to one of these scam providers... The cash cow gets bigger with every turn these scammers come up with!!!

Actually no!
But certain schemes will only "back you up" on a limited range of work.
So if you're a DI with a certain scheme and you do commercial (perfectly legal, subject to PL insurance cover) they don't want to know. Because they want you to fork out for something else!

I chose NAPIT because it suited my needs, doing periodics and the odd bit of commercial without having to pay again for each.

Simon.

As already stated above, you dont specifically need to be registered to ECA or NICEIC for commercial work, however some large organisations/hotel chains etc will insist in having a registered installer. The reason is not really anything to do with abilities as opposed to contractual backup as these schemes offer a gurantee for work... When dealing with 50k contracts etc... this can be quite important for them...

Small commercial works etc you are fine to do without registration. :hurray:
