I am going to look at a job in a pub. Are there any specific regs or other bodies that have to be informed when carrying out work in a pub. There is living accomadation above, does this come under domestic as regard to Part P etc.

Don't know any specify reg although the licensing authority can place certain restrictions on what ever they felt like at the time.

If the living accom. & PUB run from the same supply (ie service head) and not separate (ie service head) then IT DOES come under PART P

When you say service head. Do you mean wether the Pub and living accomodation have seperate Meters. Sorry to sound a bit daft, but am just starting on this type of work, have been working on industrial and maintenance work for the last 30yrs.

Right...

Just looking at Figure 1.3.2 of EGBR...
It says "Dwellings and business premises that have a common metered supply"
so only if they are on the same meter.

Cheers. Realised what it was as soon as i posted my question. Have just dug it out now. My copy seems to be the first ed. Are there many changes.

Thanks for all your help. Found it very useful. Went to have a look at job, and thankfully took my copy of EGBR with me. The pub and flat were off the same meter, so unfortunately had to turn work down. Luckily had my EGBR with me so it helped to explain to customer why his pub comes under Part P. Am looking at getting registered now, Napit seem to be the quickest with the registration process. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Once again thanks for your help.

Thanks for getting involved lads. Where do I find out about regs that apply to liscened properties such as pubs and clubs such as the things you have previously mentioned like EM lighting.

Did you mention that you had to turn the work away because it came under part p of building regs,if so why? You can still take the job on if you register the job with local building control £80 on standard domestic job i think, just add it on your price perhaps, when you get your napit i think it will cost £2 per job notified,as regard to em lights try iet website or google for regs as there are full details online which yiu can print off for reference, hope this helps a bit.

FORGOT TO MENTION THERE ARE SPECIFIC REGS FOR SUPPLIES TO FIRE ALARM/EMERGENCY LIGHTING WHICH ARE NOT ONLY COVERED BY BS7671 BUT ALSO BS5839(FIRE ALARMS) AND EM LIGHTING(NOT SURE OF BS NUMBER)
