does anyone know if there are any regs on cable colours for ELV circuits?

Some dodgy wholesaler in London gave me a length of SWA but when i stripping it, it was old colours. it is to be used for a 24v control circuit. will i get away with it?

No just cables had to identified with the new harmonized colours after then.Other wise there would have been a awful lot of useless cable sat in company stockrooms, garages etc

If your using it on fire alarm equipment not really.....if using on door access or cctv then yes, theres no stricked rules here on ULV (in my day any thing lower than 48v) but would state that the cable schedules issued would state the criteria

Excellent! That means at last I can use up my old reel of vulcanised rubber 3c&E with the red white and blue colours!

Will make it interesting when the next sparks comes along and ask when it was installed and the reply is 2013 lol

Its exactly what happened to me. I went to do EICR for a new built extention and cables in older part of building were Blue&Brown and ring circuit to new extention was Red&Black :innocent:. It is awkward. I gave it code C3 and told to the electrician who did installation to never do it again.

Regards
R&M
