Hi there,

Excellent forum - this is my first post, so please go easy!!

I am looking to install a disco ball in my daughters room. There are three parts to the kit, a powered ball a small spotlight with a rotating coloured gell and a small strobe light. I would like tp fit the permenately but would like to avoid chasing the walls. I have access to power in an eaves storage in the loft conversion above. Would it be possible to power the bits from above but have them turned on and off via a remote control in the bed room? It would be nice to have the bits seperately switched

Hope this makes sense

Cheers
Colin

The ones I've seen have a light controlled normally from a switch with the extra functions like the disco ball and strobe controlled from pullcords.
You shouldn't have to chase any walls as the existing switch should be ok for it and the cables at the existing fitting will supply the new one.
If in doubt buy her a guitar and amplifier instead:)

This is certainly possible but would be an expensive solution. You could fit three receivers in the ceiling to the current lighting supply and have a multi channel remote control to operate the receivers. However you would be looking at about £60 to £250+ to just buy the parts. Wiring would depend on how your lights are currently wired.

Another possibility if your light switch cable is in capping in the wall would be to replace the cable (if there is enough room) with enough lines to use a three gang switch.

These solutions do start to become more complicated so if you are unsure about how to go about this please contact a local electrician to give you advice.

Disco ball!!!!!.... is this a modern one you sound like your stuck in the 60/70's, just look on a DJ supply site you can pay similar for a modern day disco multi-coloured led or laser light that can just plug in and sit in the corner but turn the bedroom into a disco frenzy.( bet you still have glam rock outfit in the cupboard) :D

Ps Welcome to the forum .....
