Having worked in America with their weird systems, thought I'd seen it all,but this has got me puzzled,a rep[eated failure of a cable at 33kV supplying a house and dairy, the cable of a type used by Country Energy,is rated for 132kV,400A per phase, supplying a 433-250 400kvA transformer. The cable was installed recently to replace an overhead line that the farmers wife didn't like the look of,cable sagging to 9ft above the ground.a horse got cooked tying to mate with another horse, killed both of them, anyhow the only thing I can think of is that ground for about 40 ft,is comprised a hard flinty, ceramic rock that is extremely magnetic, thus causing a choke effect, meanwhile the overhead has been reconnected to supply the farm, dairy, all 3phase motors, various vampire loads in the house,2 trees are used to support the cable,66kV insulators in a triangle arrangement on angle iron brackets with a ground wire at the top of the pole for lightning, earthed at every pole. There is a recloser at the start of the line.Due to gypsys thieving cables in the areas,POCO have adjusted it to reclose up to 20 times.

I think you have got a lot of things mixed up here, especially you're KV ratings. I can tell you now, they wouldn't install 132 KV rated cable to supply a 33KV system. The cost difference is like,
eh, ..... phenomenal!!

The rest i'm just as confused with!! lol!!

The guys had the attitude, whatevers on the truck, plus the farmers wife paid over the odds for the install, waste of money over a few stupid horses,IMHO,told them,we dig a new trench away from those funny rocks, you pay.

If the Kv's and the 9 ft are correct, then this must be a film set for a futuristic labour camp arnie needs to escape from...(come on,it's running man) :behead:

I don’t believe a word of this.

You couldn’t make off 132KV cables in to a 400KVA transformer. The terminal box would be the size of the transformer even if you scaled things down for 33KV.

Nothing adds up, I smell male bovine excrement.

I’ll take it all back if the OP provides pictures.

The only thing I lied about are 1,my age at 13 I joined the military to get to Nam before it was over,2,the trail of destruction my sister and me left behind in Cambodia,Laos and Nam,today I'd be called a war criminal, have been shot,Punji sticked, knifed, chased by a waterboo after I shot him,hit by a machete by some nipper a woman and her kids threw hand grenades at my men,M60s and Sawed off pump action Win 12s,whole village.14 bullets still in my body, can only see colour out of one eye, anyhow guess youse blokes never heard of a reduction box, where a large cable comes in 3 out usually with HRC protection for the outgoers, when I installed it the second time, didnt have those plastic glands for the cables, used myers hubs instead, inspector made me connect the bonding screws to the ground wire at the base of the pole. Will be able to post pics now Rupert has got his hands on the telcos, his idea, use once, pay twice,in June 14 so I/m told by a comms tech.ADSL is that bad where I live.lttle better than dialup at times,so,.i just give up.Have to get my old Cadillac Ambulance off the critical list, just restored,my kids took it for a spin around the country,12 and 13 yr old girls, came back, not a straight panel on it,all beat up,front bumper stoved in where a wild pig hit them,Dont worry,we took care of him, they said.I thought they might have given him a shot of diamorphine from the medical kit, taken him to a vet.Nah,they said, sawed off pump action shotgun for him, slamfired. You gotta remember,my wife's American.

I erm, well, uhhhhhh

WHAT???!?

:shocked3::willy_nilly:

Must introduce Merlé to this forum.

He had us in stitches for weeks in the conference room with his questions on high head turbo generators. I finally gave the game away by warning that the main beams of the OHT cranes may get stuck going around the corners during transportation.
I’ll be honest, he had me fooled at first. It wasn’t until I’d posted the difference between reaction and impulse turbines the penny dropped. PM’s started and so did the games.
Poor lad, he was so upset when he realized we were playing.

Geordies and Scousers are nice guys, but not many came back from Vietnam with about 100kgs of gold, silver, looted from Buddist monks and churches,by armed robbery,30% for me,the rest,4 other guys,my men, gold collar for my Siamese cat,all went for melt in Manila, gold buddhas, you know, the things they pray to Allah with,as well as 2 tons of Soviet military firearms as ''spoils of war'' I went to war as a get rich quick scheme, was amply rewarded, picked up an American wife,a divorcee, found out her husband was a smoke.

You need to focus up or balance your meds, this is an electrical forum.

I can't believe the mods deleted my post, but yet this crackpot's posts about 'smokes' gets allowed? What's happening??? Daz
