I'm not in the trade - but understand concepts (Physics at Uni - a long time ago!)
Looking for replacement for a dimmer module which is driving three 35 w mains spotlights and four 50w 12v spotlights.
The other switch of the 2 gang switchplate is backed with a a Hamilton Litestat dimmer module (yellow) for five 35w mains spotlights. (Seems odd in passing that the other 3 mains spots weren't wired into that other switch too)
The gone-wrong module is a (2-way) RPP DSP250 (hence under-rated?) (blue), can't find it on google.
My train of thought is that the transformers can't be a resistive load, otherwise both modules would surely have been the same. I'm getting bogged down with the leading-edge, trailing-edge stuff and different transformer types. I would really prefer not to have to root around in the ceiling void to find the transformer(s); the RSP module has worked for 4 years (still gives on/off, but rotating no longer dims) and bulb replacements haven't seemed frequent so what I think I need is simply if anyone can give me a steer to the equivalent of the RPP module. Might something like the VLJP400MOD (google it, can't seem to give full link, triggers asterisks) do the trick? - presented as being all-singing all-dancing - I like the bit about "intelligent control of awkward loads" !
