I have a mate who is a Jointer for the local DNO, he tends to do the odd forigner for himself and has askedme would i be interested.

Most of his jobs are moving meters and require a sparks to move the tails, i am not currently and wont be for the next 12 months probably, registered with one ofthe big brother orginaistions andtend to stick mainly to commercial.

would i need registration to be moving/installing tails ?

also i would complete a IR test on the whole installation and if this is satisfactory i would proceed, am i doing enough here or should i be testing further??

Would not go down that route if I were you. If your mate admits doing private jobs he would most probably be sacked. That leaves you in the frame, as a qualified sparks you break the law when you remove the fuse but no one really worries about it. However as you have no qualifications at all you would probably be prosecuted.

The above could happen if a customer was not satisfied and made a complaint or worse:confused:

Think its just a case of " we dont touch that"

To be fair i dont think its fair to scourn him just because he works on the side as idont know of any tradesmen who dont do that

and to be fair, every spark should have a dno engineer who works on the side asits handy to have
