Hi,

I am trying to move my pull cords from the bathroom to a outside switch.
I have a pull cord that controls a light and fan together. the wiring is shown in the picture.

the 2 wires are live/sw and go into L2, the L1 (I assume is a neutral ?).

How do I take this setup and wire into a normal switch with COM/L1/L2?

many thanks

On your pull cord switch L1 is the "common" terminal.
Since it's only being used for simple on/off, a two way switch is not really required, but can still be used.

It looks like the single red is permanently 'live', and the twin reds are the output from the switch, one to the light, the other to the fan, but even if that is not the case, your new switch will replace the pull switch satisfactorily.
There is no neutral connection involved here.

For your new switch, you would connect the single wire presently in L1 to the new switch COM, and the pair of wires currently in L2 to the new switch L1.

How do you plan to extend the wire(s) in the ceiling to reach the light switch position?
In particular, is there an earth wire at the pull switch, and if not, is any earth visible where the wires exit the outer sheath of the cable?

as mentioned by Westward a link is the way forward, nothing wrong with that and the pull cord will then be the on off switch.

"It works" and "it's safe" are not necessarily the same thing. With DIY work, they are often far from the same thing.
