I am replacing a Towel Rail in a bathroom. I know that it must be RCD protected but if i go to the job change the FCU for an unswitched FCU at the towel rail and put an RCD FCU outside the bathroom for isolation am I right or wrong in thinking that as I have done work in the bathroom I need to make sure all the other circuits in the bathroom are RCD protected? (such as lights etc)

Or do I just make sure that my work is RCD protected ?

Cheers :)

Tel is right, but I have a quest?ion are you an Electrician ? only your profile is a bit bare
I'm an apprentice, boss sends me out on little jobs that he knows I can do. Probably the wrong thing to do but it gives me experience. What is the reg number? I'm trying to find it. If it was me I would protect with an RCD and install isolation switch outside. Thanks for your help

No worries mate, might be best if you update your profile to let everyone know that you are an apprentice, might save you some grief if you add anymore posts, good luck

BS7671 is primarily concerned with the fixed wiring of an installation and designing it to be safe to use.
Regulation 113.1 states: The Regulations apply to items of electrical equipment only so far as selection and application of the equipment in the installation are concerned. The Regulations do not deal with requirements for the construction of assemblies of electrical equipment, which are required to comply with appropriate standards.
Maintenance operations, such as accessory replacement, do not make any changes to the fixed wiring and so do not require the fixed wiring to be upgraded to the current regulations.
If you have the chance and the customer is prepared to pay for the changes then it would be a good idea to upgrade to the current regulations.
Similarly changes to a circuit do require that circuit to be complaint, additions require the addition to be compliant and the rest of the circuit to be safe to use but these do not require other unchanged circuits to be brought up to the current regulations.
