I was replacing a fluorescent ballast for a single four foot T8 fixture. The ballast that I bought on line had very short power leads that would not reach the power lines from the ceiling. I spliced an 8" extension on to each of the black and white wires, using wire nuts. Being that this is all contained in the metal housing of the fixture, is this ok to do? In retrospect, I probably should have drilled two new holes and moved the ballast closer to the leads from the ceiling, but now I have cut the wires to the tombstone too short. Thanks for any assistance on this.
