Replacing old oven

Just got roped into doing this at my mates mums house whilst I was round. Straight forward so I said I'd do it when I get the chance at the weekend...However once she pulled the old oven out I noticed it was just connected in with the 6mm for the hob at the CCU! and to make matters worse it's concrete walls, concrete floors & concrete with splashback on top of it above the work-top. would have been fine if i could have got to another circuit to spur off but I can't!! Anybody been in this situation before? I know someone who just took a 2.5mm off the ccu into a fused spur but that's pretty rough and I'd imagine not allowed!

Hello mate, just reading your post and probably me but I'm a bit confused by what you mean. Do you mean that there is no cooker switch and the cooker is straight from the CU to the cooker?

Hi, there is a cooker switch that then goes to hob ccu. then to the hob, that's all fine but the oven which has a 1.5mm or 2.5mm pre-connected lead was also in with the 6mm cable in the ccu whereas normally it would be just spurred off a socket to a switched fuse etc...

Why would this be not allowed?? If you want, you could always come off the CCU with a 4mm cable into a FCU, or even a socket outlet, providing you have the clearance at the back of the cooker or wherever to mount the surface box.... Can't see there being anything wrong in that, or it being ''a bit rough'' either!! ...lol!!
