i have been asked to quote on repositioning (lowering 2 metres) a fuse board it has mcbs but nothin is rcd protected should i replace the board with a split load as obviously i will be testing afterwards.

To be fair, I don't think it's alteration of circuits as no component of any circuit is being replaced, so you don't have to bring the whole installation up to date, but that's just splitting hairs!!

While the board is off it's a false economy not to take the opportunity to upgrade, as your quote will only increase by the cost of the board, as your doing the work anyway and you should still do the same amount of testing!

As Durham said........you might as well

The tails will be replaced as i always do this as a rule when i do a mains change. Each circuit (22 in all) will be extended. Any suggestions other than thru crimps and an adaptable box to extend them? i had thought od din rail connectors but that could be expensive.

din rail connectors/ terminals provide the neatest solution and the cost is not prohibitive. better by far than an adaptable box containing a rat's nest of wagos or crimps.

if you are extending circuits then it comes under a minor works for each circuit which needs notifying,by extending the circuits you are then resposible for fitting rcd protection.i would just replace the board with a new one and do a full inspection and test on the property.

Technically Bert is spot on, if you were just going to move the existing board down and have to extend the kitchen and bathroom circuits, then by the letter of the Part P you have to notify......................no wonder some choose to ignore it!!!

Note I would in no way encourage anyone to ignore the law and so if you are extending circuits that supply a special location it would need notifying.
