Hi, I've just been doing some practising on a smallish radial circuit with a few spurs.. just looking for some help to explain why when doing an IR test between L & N its reading 0.3Mohm but for L-E and N-E i'm getting over 500Mohm.

Am I reading GN3 right when it says connect L&N together, testing to Earth?
This is an acceptable way of IR testing for an existing installation.

If you are going to test between L&N, may I suggest doing a 'soft test' @ 250V first. As this will then show if something is still connected (that you may have missed) without running the risk of damaging vunerable equipment, which if you do damage you will then be liable for repair or replacement
