I think im having a moment but what is the maximum resistance reading allowed in a continuity/polarity test ?

The resistance will depend on the CSA and length of the conductor....there is no maximum value,only a correct value for the conductor being tested.

resistance is dependant on the overall length of the cable, you can calculate the length by calculation if you use the tables for resistance in the big green book appendixes.

It is an interesting point though.

The measured R1 with R2 or R1+R2 values are added to the Ze value for the supply to give a prospective calculated Zs value. This is then compared to 80% of the given maximum Zs values for a given size of protective device (MCB)
