Hi all,
I'm in the process of fitting a reversing camera to the van as it's a lwb with a solid bulkhead and can be a beast to park due to the massive blind spot.
Anyone else done this ? if so what camera sensor did you use CMOS or CCD I've got the monitor 7" colour LCD that will fit onto a rear view mirror ( going to scrappy to get one).

Cheers,
Lofty

You could try london parking!!!! people just keep going until they hit you! then stop! sometimes.... (I have about ÂŁ1000 of dents to get rid of that happened when I was not in the damn thing)

I have just fitted reversing sensors to a friends van, in place of camera. He said the camera kept getting knocked and the picture was little to no help! he now knows when to stop so he can open rear doors by the number of lights displayed.

Not sure if that will help and good luck.

Dont do it!!!!!!

Our latest fleet of Merc Sprinters have them fitted in the rear view mirror

They are a total, TOTAL, total waste of time and money!

Just my experienced view!

Cheers,
The CMOS ones look OK but have heard that the CCD ones are better (those made by Sharp) but do suffer from reflections i.e. car lights or sunlight I suppose this is only going to be an issue if you wire it on permantly to replace a rear view mirror if wired through the reversing lights then not a problem. Have found a CMOS one with 'trapezoid' ruler built in , may be of use or could just be a bit gimmicky. A mate with an X Trail has one fitted as standard and says it's brilliant for lining up onto his caravan tow hitch, on the van though not sure ???

Cheers,

CBW. I see you're just up the road from me.

Must keep a look out for you , Merc sprinter you say ?.

Cheers,
Lofty.

Sorry, I work part time for the local Ambulance service!

My vans are ford connects that are reversed the London way, hence all their bumpers are hanging off!!!!!!!

Bright orange, so you would see us comming.

weve got some on our vans, decent enough to see whats behind you,but you cant judge any distance from them youd be better off with reversing sensors as well as a cam

Yeah, the distance thing did concern me as the viewing angle is 170 degrees and I think will give a 'fish eye' effect.

Lofty.

brother in law is manager of a quarry and got me a reversing camera off one of the loading shovels, night vision, colour in day,sound....monitor,the works.....its a must have for large vans.

The Airbus A380 has one hell of a camera system, forwards, backwards, you name it, it can see it. Nice big LCD display on the dashboard, and one in every seat in case you get fed up of crap films, would look very nice on the van, but at about ÂŁ1m a pop i wont be buying one.......

Cheers........Howard
