I'm starting a rewire this week, the houseowner mentioned in passing that they will be having some PV panels sometime in the future.

Is there anything I should do during the rewire to make things easier for the PV fitters when they finally get the go-ahead?

Extra ways in the CU? Extra cable to the attic space?

Just do right by the customer ... it'll pay you back (even if the PV installer doesn't :) )

NO its there problem ... will the pv installers track you down and offer to pay you for cable etc ???

will they balls

Each to their own.

The outlay is minimal and the benefit to the customer and future installer are clear. It is good practice to consider future installers when you install.

Is this standby cable going to be included on your EIC ? If so then your going to have to terminate it into a suitable enclosure.

Not sure how 6 months down the line a PV company is going to certificate this, reference this circuit agianst an existing EIC, so what will they issue?

As we know as far as Part P is concerned we can not sign off another sparks work, you may find that a company may not use your cable.

I think i would put the cable in steel conduit if buried in the walls incase the pv installer doesn't want to 30mA protect the cable. Carry out an insulation resistance test on the cable and note results on your EIC. Your customer should pay you for installing this cable so cost doesn't come in to it.

So you are going to omit the parts about design and construction on your EIC and just complete the Inspection and Testing part.

How are you going to confirm that the installation was installed to the building regluation Part P, as it is someone's elses work. As I posted if this circuit is going to be included on the rewire EIC then what EIC are the PV company going to supply, a referenced one, to the rewire EIC? It can't can it, you can't sign your install off under Part P by using someone elses work, as you can not verify how that cable was installed.

Do your maximum demand calculations allow for extra ways to be left? ;)

I'm afraid that I personally would only be interested in helping MYSELF complete the job in hand. As much as it would be very kind and practical to assist it's NOT your place to do it. The job may not ever happen or at a later date you may hear of the Police are looking for a spark who rigged up a small cannabis farm in a loft;) lol
