Hi All, after some advise. I have been asked to rewire a grade 2 listed building in Norfolk with a thatch roof covering one bedroom of the house, there is no attic space below the thatched area ( vaulted ceiling) with only 1 ceiling mounted light going into that room so no cables any closer than 2m from the thatch. Does any one no of any special requirements regarding cables etc when rewiring near thatch or within listed buildings. Thanks.

Get the customer to ask his insurance company. But be prepared for a whole can of worms! I was at one a fair bit back and the insurance company insisted that the DNO's equipment be installed outside into an OMB. Building wasn't listed but was in a conservation area......OMB was installed though at customer's / insurance insistance. Best to check though before you start.

The ones we've done (not any for a couple of years) it's always been Pyro.

Did some Pyro the other day and the labourer asked what a Joist Ripper was for..... I didn't have a clue what he was on about... Joist Ripper? .... Then the penny dropped Joi Stripper!
