I am after some advice on fitting a wired doorbell in the UK. I plan on removing the current chime and replacing it with a 24v Ring transformer only in a box.
Planned on simply adding the power and adding the 2 cables to the Ring bell....Job done!
However, looking the current doorbell it has been fitted with a 6 core wire, the type you use for burglar alarm sensors. They have used single wires on the 8v fitting and left the other 4 just spare.
My question is, would the current 6 core wire handle the 24v either on a single wire or by splicing the 3 wires together to increase its load ability? Anyone had a similar issue?
Thanks,
