Hi All

I have been asked to put three double sockets into a conservatory. My plan was to extend the ring. The concern i have is that there is an old wylex board with rewirable fused. The sockets for the upstairs and downstairs are on one ring protected by one red 32 amp fuse. Is this acceptable. secondly i am worried that by adding 3 more sockets to this ring may make a bad situation worse. Are my concerns justified and if so what actions need to be taken to allow me to carry out the work correctly.
All advice apreciated
Thanks

The existing circuit protection is fine for the existing sockets as the regs are not retrospective. You will need to confirm that the circuit is in a fit state to be added to. Once you have confirmed that the bonding is up to scratch, and then confirmed your Ze and R1+R2 etc are in spec then you can extend the circuit. The circuit extension will have to conform to current regs, so do as Tel (post above this one) says, then carry out tests to confirm all is OK, issue paperwork, job done.

I dont wish to try and get complicated. You only want to add 3 sockets, but it has to be safe, or there maybe more than one ring getting extended.

Cheers.........Howard
