When testing ring final how do i know incoming and outgoing legs when cross connecting L & N. Will the readings at each socket be considerably different when they should be roughly the same. R1 +Rn/4 at each socket. Cheers

If you don't cross connect your reading will be low close to the CU and increase as you approach the mid point of the ring.

cross connect L1 to E2. then R1+R2 at each socket should be the same, unless a socket is on a spur. roughly = (r1+r2)/4.

If you have only one leg connected, then the readings will increase or decrease (depending on how far from the CU you are) as you progress around the ring.
