When insulation resistance testing a ring. How do you test as it's 6 wires rather than three

That's the trick, once you've confirmed continuity it's effectively only three wires you got there. Just make sure the other ends are away from you when testing!
Why? Could be difficult if the RFC is wired in singles and you can't identify one end from another, sure you can prove continuity OK but IR on a RFC wired in singles? test it as a ring. IMO anyway
Brain fort mate, senility creeping in, BUT it could be dodgy if its singles and you can't ID the leg and safely get it out of harms way with 500V DC floating about wouldn't you say? yes it would be a valid test with safety in mind??? only sayingWith a ring Pete, wouldn't matter whether you tested line1 against neutral2 though for IR - if it's a complete ring (which would already have been proven) then the IR test is still valid.
500V off a megger never hurt anyone. woke you up though.
just aboutto attend a tripping problem. new customer, so don't know what the hell i'll find. happy days.
