All be warned of O&H building contractors based in Waterlooville Iled by a Mr David Hayes I rewired a bungalow locally and after the poor workmanship by him he took the money off the new owners then did a runner !! He took around 8 grand off them in total including my fee

Thats builders for you, chin up, all you can do is learn from your experiences

bit a pain being the week before xmas

did you get any part payment halfway through the job?

in future if you dont fully trust the builder insist you work direct for the customer but are willing to put a percentage on top of your price for the builder if its his job, or simply dont take on the job

i have been in this predicament before, my work was fine but the builder was shocking and he got sacked, he had taken my money off the job so there was nothing for me when he went

or if you can help it, just dont work for builders, they only make your life stressfull anyway

Sorry to hear about that Haj. Sadly as said, its a hard lesson learned. Happy hunting in getting hold of this guy and getting money back. If you ask on here there are plenty of users with experience of pursuing owed money to advise you.

Very sorry to hear the bad news Bud. Right get into gear, re-send the Guy a copy of your original invoice, tell him unless it is paid in full within 7 working days you will get a third party involved and he will end up paying 3 times what he owes you. Ring a Debt collecting agency in advance letting them know your problem and the due date you have given him. They will ring you on that day for sure asking if you received any money. If you did not then let them take over the case, they will probably pay you 40% of what he owes you and you will never hear from them or him again, okay you lose 60% but he will end up screwed and you will have something and satisfaction. You never know you may get more than 40%, chin up.
