i have been given a robin kts1610 multifuncfion tester by a guy from my work, and i have 2 main questions. are they any good? is it worth having calibrated?

thanks in advance for any responses

Hi, I still use the KTS1630, which is an excellent tester. From memory, the KTS1610 is significantly more basic, but from your perspective, have a close look at it an try using it a bit before you get it calibrated. I think you may struggle using it as your main tester these days, as I'm pretty sure it doesn't have non-trip loop/PFC tests, and probably no auto-null either. Not sure it can directly measure PEFC/PSCC either.

use it while you are training, obviously not for certification purposes with it not being calibrated, and get used to the procedures. put a bit by each week in order to get something more up to date when you finish your training. then you can use the robin just for fault finding. if you break it, it's no great loss.

nice little tester, only thing missing is 250v insulation resistance test, to check the circuit for still connected appliances before firing 500v on it.
