Has anyone used the roof bracket that hangs on the tile batten?

We all know that removing the top couple of rows of tile nearest the ridge is difficult and was considering this type of bracket as I think it will slide up with out taking the tile right out.

Any thoughts

We used one on our first install (my house). I was a little dubious initially but had a long chat with the supplier and was provided with a spreadsheet from the manufacturer which gives you the bracket centres for a given wind loading. We ended up with 420mm centres so lots of tiles to move but the brackets were very easy to locate as the tiles didn't need to move too far to get bracket into place. It clamps the tile and batten together and seems pretty solid.

The biggest faff with them was making sure that the brackets were all nicely lined up as with this particular bracket the mounting rail clipped to the top of the brackets and when only a short distance apart was a nightmare to fit into place if the brackets didn't align.

Hope that makes sense!

Paul

We have used the type you have mentioned, i was a bit dubious at first, but the supplier assuered us it would be ok. It's qiuck and easy but i would prefer the bolt on for longevity.

You raised a good point there about longevity. I was also concerned over the additional stresses on the tile batten. I was considering using them for the top rail only and reverting to a bolt on bracket for the lower three rails. The problem is the roof length (ridge to gutter) it is enough but only if we can get a rail on the second row of tile down from the ridge. Not wanting to take the ridge off to fit the brackets I thought these might be a solution.
