I'm moving into a house in a couple of weeks that has a large outbuilding attached I want to stick 10kW on.
Currently it has a corrugated azzy roof thats droppping to bits and needs replacing. So I figured, why not try and kill 2 birds with one stone?
Does anyone know of a system that would act as a replacement roof?
cheers in advance

I'm a little bit worried that I might be channelling your thoughts.

I was looking into this yesterday, and solar century do a good looking roof replacement system for barns / warehouses etc. Think they call it an energy roof.

I've been sent a pricing guide for it, can pm it if you're interested.

not sure. I've put a request in to segen for them to find something similar, but they don't currently offer anything other than the big romag solar slates.

actually, thinking about it they could be an option but you'd have to put the frame work in still to support it, and they're pretty expensive.

my dno only allow me to have 6kw max have you asked your dno

If cost is paramount and it's only an outbuilding then either re-roofing with trapezoidal profiled metal, or over rooofing can both be very cost effective.

Speak to these guys, they are very helpful : Over-Roofing Sheets | Rhino Steel Cladding

Also you'll save heaps on installtion time and costs if you use either Metasole or K2's Speedrail

The Romag system is nice if its still the same one its made by these guys FATH Solar - FATH energy roof they had a lovely looking stand at Intersolar last week, does look nice can even integrate velux and solar thermal

Id strip it and put on metal then clips, Wurth do a nice short bracket or Schueco PV-light2

it seems to me we are a bit slow on this in this country.... i had a client who wants his roof re-doing. and solar panels. looked at all sorts of options, solar century c12, and romag slates were too expensive, couldn't find a decent in roof system which didn't need acres of space around it. most were over priced and poor quality. in the end the most cost effective way was to just re-slate and retro fit (obviously at the same time). but you drive through austria and all their thermal is built in.

I'm buying a house which badly needs a re-roof, i'll be stripping it off working out some BIPV i quite like the look of the schletter system. but can't speak to anyone about it. failing that i'll be sorting out my own system with some elaborate drainage techniques.

it seems in austria most of the mounting kit is built bespoke by a local fabricator... you'd never be able to do that here as their is way too much focus on banging it up as cheap as possible with parts made half way accross the world, which are barely suitable, but at least they are available so we can crash it in before the next deadline!

anyway, back in topic, i'm with worcester, if i was selling a cost effective solution i'd metal trapizoidal roof it, then retro fit with direct rail or something similar. cost effective, safe, reliable, tried and tested.... if it was my own roof! well i'd have some fun with something a little more bespoke!
