Hi

When i survey a new job I am wondering about the building regs for the solar panels and the weight of the roof do you have to have a strutural engineers report or can you calculate this by a computer programme etc.

I know you cannot have them on thatched and listed buildings etc

Hi young50, welcome to the forum. One helpful feature of this forum is the search function, instead of pinging of new threads have a search, most of the questions you asked have been already talked about.I haventj used the iPhone app, with regards to insurance there is "iwa" and the insurance offered by "real" for ÂŁ35 as a member. Labc provide guidance on the building regs, but structural report and wind calcs is the best way forward.

There is no law that states you cannot put PV on a listed building. The Law says you have to get permission. That said, there are probably buildings that you are unlikely to get permission for, but not just because they are listed per- se. If in doubt give your local planner a call and ask their opinion.
