Hi,

Am preparing for first install, Do you have to have a roof survey carried out on each property before installing onto roof?
I was wondering because if the assessor asks how i knew the roof was structurally sound i couldn't answer how!

We have a structural survey undertaken on every job we do - it's the only way we know a roof is up to taking the load and if Mr. MCS asks, we can show him the evidence. I am fairly sure we are in the minority if what we hear about our competitors is anything to go by.

Who do you use? and what level of check do you have? do you send them photos of the roof or do they actually climb in the loft and survey?

I was thinking of using the roof survey scheme through napit.

Thanks

We've been using Curtins. I think they have a few offices around the country. They prefer to visit site and climb in the loft themselves. We get a quick answer over the phone usually later the same day, followed up with a comprehensive written report.
