Can you give some more details of circuit and what stat is controlling etc.

Honeywell stat that controls the central heating powered from a combi boiler. Its a neighbour, the stat was working fine untill it smashed off the wall. I told him to replace with a new 1 but its still trips the mcb when he turns the stat below 25.

sounds like the cable got damaged when the stat was smashed off the wall
may pay to run an IR test on the stat cable but make sure it is disconnected from the main connection point

I would go with the neutral in the wrong terminal, indeed if it needs a neutral. Or possibly cores damaged when it was smashed???

Off top of my head on a T6360B - L-1, SL-3, N-2.

Certainly sounds like its been wired incorrectly.

Should be L&N and 3rd core to terminal 3... i think.

The room stat is definitely connected correctly. I suppose it could be a damage cable then.

Do an IR test on the cable with it disconnected at both ends.
