Hi, I've been asked at work to wire a room stat (honeywell T6360b). Wiring diagram http://www.screwfix.com/sfd/i/cat/p...w&cm_mmc=AffiliateWindow-_-DeepLink-_-Na-_-Na One in the middle of the 2nd page.

I just wanted to check I had it wired correctly in my head before i connect it in :D

My version : 3 core cable between stat and Boiler. Connect brown and blue into 1 + 2 in the stat (1 being live and 2 being neutral) and Live and neutral from the the load side of my fused spur (next to the boiler was thinking surface box next to spur with links from live and neutral in spur crimped or connecter blocked to my brown and blue from 3 core which come from stat) Then the third core of the cable (black) connect into no.3 on the stat and take that straight to my boiler. The boiler btw has a plug type thingy with a loop of cable on which says in the destructions cut and put on a connector with the incoming from the stat.

Sorry if its a bit long winded but I have been thrown into it so thought it may be a simple questing to ask :(, but if you have never done it before you dont know.

Thanks. :)

Generally you would take the cable from the boiler to the stat (there are connections in the boiler ready to connect to, normally labelled 'external controls').

Some boilers require volt-free stats. So you need to check the boiler instructions to see if ok.

No connections in the boiler i think its a cheap one. The flex for the mains was pre wired. Also the boiler can handle 230 or 24 volts and has a seperate terminal for each.

then there must be connections for external controls otherwise there would only be power to the boiler if the room stat called for heat and you wouldn't get any hot water

So, you would have an L,N and E from the spur to the boiler and a separate cable from the boiler to the stat.

In most cases this would just be a 230v L, swiched L and earth, but alot of stats need a neutral aswell. But some boilers however nedd a volt free stat, so beware because you could blow the circuit board.

Ive had a look at Boiler and there wasnt any visibible connections. The flex for mains is sort of soldered into a block on the circuit board.

The manual definatly said 230 v stat and 24v stat. had a different page for each.

I don't know. A lot of these boiler manuals are for a few different models of the boiler, but there must be separate connections for the stat, think about it, if the only live to the boiler came through the stat then there wouldn't be a permanent live to supply the hot water.

Are you sure you haven't missed something?

It isnt the only live to the boiler theres a live neutral and earth aswell main feeds from the fused spur next to it.
