Hello

I have moved into a 3 bedroom house private renting. Part of the house is converted into a small studio. They have one room and a shower room. They have only electric inside that bit and it feeds off my meter by using a coin meter. Whoever lives there has to feed the meter ÂŁ1 coins which i then have locked and I get the money at the end of the month. My questions are how do i know how much they are paying for their electric compared to mine? Its a cpnfusing meter and has lots of dials that I cannot make sense of. Also as it is empty at the moment does anyone know why I am still seeing my meter inside my house saying ÂŁ1 charge. This differs and when this happens it swaps between a display 1 which shows my credit and then to a display 2 which shows a charge. Is this to do with the coin meter next door or is it something to do with my pre payment meter? I just wanted confirmation this was a legal way of having the electric supply?

Thanks I hope I have explained enough.

Emma

i am guessing just that room is running of the coin meter, probably just running of one of the MCB on your Customer unit so and you have your Prepayment Own meter as well, switching between two displays can be normal on prepayment meters

if they do not pay the ÂŁ1 then that room gets no power(the ÂŁ1 coin meter is most likely Timed {more likely}or based on the amount of power used), you just keep on topping your own prepayment meter up for your part of the house the money you get from the coin meter goes towards what they have used if they have not paid they they cant cost you any thing

most Prepaymeters have an day or weekly charge even if your not using any power so expect the credit to still drop even if every thing is off

you really need to get some one local and ask the same question as to why you got no response on here, as this is not really an forum for domestic questions like this
