Running two outdoor lights from one FCU.

Hi,

New here so not too sure if I posted in the right area.

I’m planning to put two outdoor lights one in the back garden and one in the front.

My plan is to use an unused FCU near the garden side of my house (my boiler room), I am going to change it into an RCD FCU and then run a cable outdoor to the garden light.

I’m asking whether or not I am able to use the garden light and run a cable from that outdoor light to the front door which is about 20meters.

It will be around 3-4 meters high and able clipped to the wall.

Is this feasible and in regulation?

Providing the cable is the right type and has been installed correctly, and the light fittings are suitable for external use.I don't see a problem. What type of cable did you intend using, are you an Electrician? 2 questions sorry.

gre was going to ask the very same thing, but Mrs came in flapping her gums at me, did I want Ketchup or brown sauce on my fry up, well you would forget things with that type of thing first thing, wouldn't you?

as the lights are outdoors i wanted to put an RCD FCU instead of a normal FCU, if normal is fine then it saves me a tenner.
its led 30W PIR lights but its going to look like the following

FCU------Garden Light with PIR 20W------------------------------2x Front Light PIR 30W

The cable is SWA 1.5mm cable tacks to the wall above 3-4Metre high.

If your CU has an RCD or the circuit you are connecting the FCU to is RCD protected then there is no need for an RCD FCU.

Why SWA cable? Does the light have a suitable place for the fitting of a SWA gland?

Regulations require swa apparently, if not I will use outdoor 1.5mm cable.

It does have RCD too.

The reason I asked is because I get mixed reviews. Can anyone suggest something?

I would use some black 1.5 High Tuff cable connected through black Wiska boxes, black stuffing glands to connect the lights.

The glands come with the PIR lights so should be okay.

You need glands for the High Tuff cables at the Wiska boxes.
