Tonight Ryan Giggs reaches 1000 career games. Absolutley incredible.

I don't really have much love-loss for Manchester United but you have to give credit where credit is due - and Ryan Giggs, is a fantastic player & athelete. Regardless of his private life which some people stupidly bring into it - this is about football, and the man is an icon.

How fitting would it be for him to come on tonight against Real Madrid and score the winner. Never say never.

BBC Sport - Ryan Giggs's Premier League goals for Manchester United

As a Tottenham Hotspur fan, i can only hope the wonderful Gareth Bale achieves half of what Ryan Giggs has achieved.

Yes he is and has been a good player, better than most, but not quite the level of the likes of Pele,Messi Best or Cruyf
He has though been a great example of loyalty to one club

It is always stated that it was a shame he never played in a major tournament,ie world cup or Euros.but some of the reason for that was of his own making, there were so many occasions when he went awol and a day or so later he played club football for 90 mins
A very good player and a great example to others how to remain at the top

Gareth Bale,is red hot.I had this silly perception of him when he first played for Wales that he was just another decent young kid,was I wrong
These last few years he has been outstanding and his potential is enormous,he will continue to grow as a player and Spurs were the perfect club for him to do so

I was really disappointed when it came out about his affair...

I've lost a lot of faith in football in the past few years because of all the scandals, the lack of loyalty, the cheating and the insane money. I always used to say "look at Giggsy, he's a proper sportsman"... he just had to go and spoil it a little!

I've still got utmost respect for him on the pitch though, it's fantastic that he plays fair and has stayed loyal to his team and manager. To see him score tonight would be amazing!

A top class player should be aware of who is around him, specialy if he is raising his foot 5 feet in the air with the studs out in front

There was no intent to do damage by that player, but there was damage awaiting because of his actions,so he had to go,harsh but that's football

Afraid i disagree here des...as Andy Townsend put it, you don't give a penalty everytime the keeper comes out with his fists to punch a corner away and nearlly takes everyones head off. If Nani was looking at Arbeloa then yes red, but his eyes were fixed on the ball - an accident, not even a yellow for me. Its an unfortunate collision, yes his stoods are raised but there was no malice what so ever. Terrible decision IMO.

Well Mark, I'd like to see the state of your ribs after you just had a high speed boot stuck into them!
Footballers are a bunch of over paid faggots, so the slightest assault on their beautiful bodies deserves a sending off.

Im not denying the fact that it would of hurt - just that it was not even close to being a redcard in my eyes.

Agree with the rest though archy, they are overpaid faggots. Don't know how they sleep at night with the wages their on and the problems with poverty in africa.
