Looking to make up a safe isolation kit on a budget any idea's ... seen kit's but dont want to spend a fortune

cheapest way for a single circuit is to remove the phase conductor/s from the MCB. if a fuse/s put fuse/s in pocket. and of course a warning notice " electrician working"

Yeah thats where i'm at at mo but wanted to look flashy for my nvq pics, seen some mcb locks but you have to mess around with allen keys, just wanted something to stick on and padlock up and that works on various manf breakers

It is not what I would call the greatest of things, but it shows willing, and about 20 notes I think.

All you really need is something like this:

a padlock, and awareness of the procedure. Along with the necessary test equipment.

on the kits for hundred quidish are they just over the top then- would the ones you have listed cover most breakers?

define a breaker? There are too many shapes and sizes. These devices will work for many, I use similar for 60898 and 60947-3's. If you want to cover many breakers you will have to buy many lock off's (i.e. a lock off kit).

This is the one I have and I think it does everything you want it to do regarding isolation. I got mine from CEF and it is a little different.

This one though is on our sponser webiste and you would also get a discount off the 55 pound price. See link

Master Lock Electrical Safety Isolation Lockout Kit - Electricians Tools - Ultimate 17th Edition Safety Lockout Kit

The kewtech padlock for 20 quid is accepted well for NICEIC it was becasue a mate was having his re- assement and he lent the kit out to another sparks, and went to a local CEF and got that padlock, and the NICEIC had no problems with it.

Personally I would fork out a little extra and get a full isolation kit.

I'm going for malcolm's suggestion, by the time i've brought the basic lock off and signs it would have cost just short of the cost as that there kit on show, and I suppose all base's are covered for future....

IDEAL do a kit about half the size, cost of kit shown there is a company do the parts seperatly I also noticed when we fitted new M.G. DBs they came with a couple of the wee springy out lockoffs the ones for M.G. mcbs

Test-meter is just round corner from where I am and they will do that kit for £63 if I pick it up, seems fair price and I get a bum bag for the Beach

So I guess there isn't a budget then, as you suggested..

It goes to prove that sex still sells. ;)
